Season Finale for New Mexico Runners on Scouts Night

Rio Rancho, NM (March 16, 2023) – Saturday night will mark the season finale and wrap up of the 4th season of New Mexico Runners arena soccer. Saturday March 18th, 2023 is Scouts Night and the Runners will play host to the Kansas Bandits at the Rio Rancho Events Center.

New Mexico currently sits at a record of 3-8 and looks to finish the season on a high note with a win. The Runners look to edge out the Bandits for a second time as they return to New Mexico with a record of 3-7 on the season.

This season has been a whirlwind to say the least, especially having a strong 3-0 start in the beginning and a rough streak of injuries that plagued the squad all season long. All is not negative about this season though. Key highlights include New Mexico having the league goal scoring leader Mehrshad Ahmadi running away with top honors as well as Head Coach Steve Famiglietta making headlines by being the oldest goalscorer in all of professional arena soccer history at the age of 57. 

New Mexico comes off a two game road stint and look to finish strong at home for their season finale on Saturday Night.

Saturday March 18th, is titled “Scouts Night presented by Potato Corner” to celebrate and honor our local scout groups. Boys and Girl Scout organizations are invited to join the Runners for a night of exciting arena soccer action with their troops, dens, and packs. First 500 scouts in uniform or scouts apparel will receive a limited edition patch courtesy of Potato Corner. Also, discounted tickets can be purchased at the box office on game day using code “SCOUTS” and fans will receive $4 off each of their tickets. Doors will open at 3:30 PM.

Scouts Night will include a scrimmage between 2011 Girls Rio & AUFC Thorns youth soccer teams at 3:40 PM.

The New Mexico Runners will host the Kansas Bandits for the final home game of the 4th season on March 18th, 2023 with a 5:05 PM kick-off at the Rio Rancho Events Center (3001 Civic Center Circle Dr. NW, Rio Rancho, NM 87144). Doors open at 3:30 PM. Tickets start at just $15 and can be purchased at the box office on game day or online at newmexicorunners.com.
