Russell's Rundown: Chapter 12
Russell's Rundown: Chapter 12 We're Back
Welcome Runners fans! It's great to be back for season six. 2024 is almost in the rear view mirror and I'm really happy that it's almost over. Last season was a trial and a tribulation for the Runners. Frankly. 2024 seemed to be cursed in many ways. Yet, every storm passes and the sun shines again.
This season brings a continuation of the New Mexico Runners organization. We are now entering year six a little better, and a little wiser. Hard work from the field to the front office is beginning to bear fruit this season. Speaking of fields, the Runners will be playing on a new field this season. It is nice! Gone is the old drab look and the drama that came with it! You should see the excitement the players had during tryouts while playing on this new field. It's like a new vibe has entered the Rio Rancho Event Center.
One awesome positive is our new partnership with the Cornivore Popcorn Company. Cornivore is now the official home jersey sponsor. The new Cornivore jerseys are absolutely beautiful. This partnership has been in the making for a couple of years. Now we're together for season six. Definitely check out the new jerseys in the team store. We look forward to what this new year will bring with Cornivore. Make sure you check out all their popcorn flavors. Biscochito is my favorite!
In other news, our long time rival the Amarillo Bombers have moved to a different league. Heartbroken! The Bombers left this thing of ours. I expect the Bombers to return someday. But we do have a new addition in the Oklahoma City Certified Lions. The Lions have already lost two games to the Wichita Wings. Welcome to the league! This season the Lions will play in a makeshift arena while their new home the OG@E Coliseum is being built on the Oklahoma state fairgrounds. I do look forward to this new rivalry.
Now we are about to begin this season with a road game against our always heated rival the Wichita Wings. We will find out what were made of on Saturday Dec 14th in Park City Arena. The Runners have new and old faces with many questions to be answered. Yet, I am optimistic with this group. There seems to be a hunger for success around this group. Maybe it's because 2024 is coming to end and hope seems to be rising. We'll get this thing started Saturday. Like always, I hope to see you at our first home match on Dec 29th .
