Amarillo, TX (March 10, 2023) - In a wild west showdown, the New Mexico Runners fall short to the Bombers 5-11 on Friday night. New Mexico has one win over Amarillo this season and finish the series 1-2 against the Bombers.

It was an evening of defensive pressure on both sides of the ball even though the Bombers controlled the first quarter with three consecutive goals, New Mexico's Vince Aragon found the back of the net to slow the Amarillo momentum at the 1:57 mark closing out the quarter trailing 1-3.

In the second quarter, Amarillo would gain momentum to tack on another three goals. A defensive battle ensued through the entire quarter until Terry Zamora opened up a lane to fire one in and end the first half with a trailing score of 2-6.

After the halftime break, a quick goal from Amarillo extended the lead even further. Just a minute or so later, Aragon would get his second goal on a breakaway at the 11:42 mark. Amarillo quickly made a move to attack and find an open lane to add another just 13 seconds later. The momentum changed in favor with the Runners as Jobany Villalba scored back to back goals which were his first this season. New Mexico would outscore the Bombers 3-2 in the third quarter, but would still trail 5-8.

New Mexico's fourth quarter had some glimmer of hope with Rookie Michael Stephens scoring his first career goal at the 11:26 mark. The Bombers would capitalize and press the Runners defense with a consistent momentum that would outlast New Mexico. Three more Amarillo goals would end the game by a score of 5-11and the Runners drop their seventh on the season.
