Runners Look to Stay Perfect on the Road in Amarillo on Sunday

Rio Rancho, NM (January 27, 2023) – The New Mexico Runners’ undefeated streak will be put to the test on the road in Amarillo this Sunday January 29th, 2023. The Runners are having their best start in franchise history as they are currently 3-0 on the 4th season of Major Arena Soccer League play.

With last home game's strong arm defeat of the Colorado Inferno, New Mexico is on a roll three games into their 4th season. It’s apparent that something is different than the past three seasons. The Runners chemistry has been of near perfection as this is the most consistent squad we’ve seen to date. Could it be the squad has meshed into a powerful unit in natural fashion or has Head Coach Steve Famiglietta’s master plan in full swing? The correct answer is “both”!

The Runners head into their fourth match-up of the season facing the Amarillo Bombers (4-1) once again on Sunday January 29th. Only this time, New Mexico will play on the road in Amarillo, Texas. The only loss the Bombers have on the season is to New Mexico.

Based on the point system the Major Arena Soccer League 2 presents, the Runners sit at 2nd place in the Midwest Division with 9 points (3 games played) and behind Amarillo who has 12 points (5 games played). New Mexico has a huge opportunity to control the division table with a second victory against Amarillo. In fact, the next two road games for New Mexico will be crucial in setting up the postseason picture for the division.

On Sunday, expect high flying action with lots of scoring from key Runners players including Ahmadi, Aragon, Ramirez, and Rookie Josh Garcia. The defensive front is a solid one for New Mexico with Oord, Rogers, and Matute who will be in the midst of many battles for ball possession.

New Mexico is on the road for the next two weeks with Amarillo on Sunday and Wichita on February 4th. The Runners return home to the Rio Rancho Events Center on Saturday February 11th, 2023 for Educators Appreciation Night.

The New Mexico Runners travel to Amarillo, TX for their 4th game of the season on January 29th, 2023 with a 2:00 PM Central Time kick-off at the Amarillo Civic Center. Fans can watch the road game online at on any streaming device.
