New Mexico Runners to Host Colorado on Educators Appreciation Nite

Rio Rancho, NM (February 1, 2022) – On Saturday February 5th, 2022 the New Mexico Runners kickoff their 4th home game of the 3rd season and will play host to the Colorado Inferno at the Rio Rancho Events Center. Saturday’s game is themed “Educators Appreciation Nite” and gives thanks to teachers for all they do in our communities. All educators get into the game for FREE with a school ID or badge. FREE New Mexico Runners lanyards will be given out to all fans while supplies last.

New Mexico (1-6) will be facing the Colorado Inferno (0-5) for the first time this season. The Inferno are winless this season with losses to Wichita, Rio Grande Valley, and Omaha. This will be the 6th time New Mexico and Colorado will face off against each other since the Runners started in 2018. The Runners are 1-4 overall against the Inferno and they look to capitalize on Colorado’s 5 game losing streak.

Currently, New Mexico has scored 58 goals through 7 games compared to Colorado’s 30 through 6 games. This shows that on Saturday, the Runners must actively press on offense and continue the defensive pressure we’ve seen in the past few games. This will edge out the Inferno who is not to be overlooked.

It’s been a tough road for the Runners as they continue to work to regain their bearings from the last season which was played two years ago. Progress is being made though, as players like #22 Sergio Fuentes currently sits in the top 5 leaderboard at the fifth spot with 11 goals and 4 assists on the season. 

Saturday’s game will be a fast paced game with lots of goals and defensive push. This battle of I-25 will be one for the books and fans will have some exciting sports entertainment at their hands.

Saturday February 5th is titled “Educators Appreciation Nite” at the Runners Game and the New Mexico Runners want to thank all teachers and educators for all they do in our communities! All teachers and educators get into the game for FREE! All they need to do is show their school ID or badge at the box office on game day. Also, the school with the highest attendance will be awarded a percentage of the ticket proceeds. Everyone is encouraged to join the fun at the New Mexico Runners arena soccer game and bring a group which can save $2 on each ticket for groups of 10 or more!

The Runners will kick off their 4th home game of the 3rd season on Saturday February 5th, 2022 with a 5:05 PM kick-off at Rio Rancho Events Center (3001 Civic Center Circle Dr. NW, Rio Rancho, NM 87144). Educators are FREE with school ID or badge. Doors open at 4 PM and tickets start at $15 and can be purchased online at newmexicorunners.com.
