Runners Head to Colorado for Round 2

by Andres Trujillo

(February 12, 2022) Colorado Springs, CO - The New Mexico Runners are on the road this weekend and head to Colorado Springs to face the Inferno in round 2 of the 2021-22 season showdown. Last week New Mexico defeated the Colorado Inferno 12-9 in a home game thriller and tonight on February 12th, 2022, the Runners look to keep the win momentum going.

With the win at home last Saturday, the Runners carry a record of 2-6. Colorado on the other hand is one of only two teams remaining in the league that has not won a game and has a season record of 0-7. The other team that is still winless is the Brew City Swerve.

As New Mexico finds continues to find its team chemistry, we have seen tremendous growth with the squad since the beginning of the season.

The last win at home was one of the most well rounded games the Runners have played to date. Team captain and forward #11 Froilan Ramirez and midfielder #6 Jacob Gandarilla both scored a trio of goals. #5 Miguel Garcia pocketed himself 2 goals with Fuentes, Ahmadi, Oord, and Rogers scoring singles.

This weekend against Colorado will be a test of the Runners' consistency on the field. Players to watch on Saturday night are Ramirez and Gandarilla. Another player to watch is Mehrshad Ahmadi. He has been clutch for the New Mexico Runners in both victories.
