New Mexico Runners Season 3 Schedule Released

Rio Rancho, NM (October 8, 2021) – It’s finally here! The New Mexico Runners have announced the schedule for season 3 after a year and a half long postponement due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Runners kickoff their third season this December with the first home game set for 5:05 PM MT on Saturday January 1^st, 2022 at the Rio Rancho Events Center.

The New Mexico Runners had been in what seemed to be in limbo for the last 82 weeks which translates to 574 days since they played a game. By the time New Mexico plays in the upcoming season, it will have been 653 days since they set foot on the turf in a regular season game. The last game the Runners played was on March 7^th, 2020.

“I’m just so ecstatic and blessed to be able to get our squad going again. We’ve waited way too long and now it’s time to showcase the New Mexico pride in our community through the game!” Stated Head Coach Steve Famiglietta. This will be the third season for Coach Famiglietta who is an USL soccer Hall of Fame Inductee and New Mexico Sports hall of Fame Nominee.

Tryouts were held back in September to get a feel of what sort of new talent can be added to the roster of core players that have been with the squad for the last two seasons. Player signings and announcements are expected to go public in the coming weeks.

To all our fans, we thank you for always sticking with us and we can’t wait to kick off this season with new fans in our midst.”

The New Mexico Runners will play 6 home games and 6 away this season against teams spanning from Turlock, California to Omaha, Nebraska. The season will begin in December 2021 and run through March 2022. All home games kick off at 5:05 PM  MT are in bold:

There are currently 13 teams slated in the Major Arena Soccer League 2 (MASL2) this season featuring returning and several new teams. The league will play a total of 78 regular season games leading up to the post-season. Commissioner Chris Economedes excitedly stated, “We’re very pleased to offer such a fan friendly and competitive schedule this season as the MASL2 continues to grow.”

Season tickets for the New Mexico Runners are now on sale which start as low as $70 for all home games and can be purchased online.

The Runners will kick off their third season on the road in a two-game series against the Omaha Kings. The first home game will take place on New Year’s Day Saturday January 1^st, 2022 with a 5:05 PM kick-off at Rio Rancho Events Center (3001 Civic Center Circle Dr. NW, Rio Rancho, NM 87144).
