MAJOR ARENA SOCCER LEAGUE TO END REGULAR SEASON EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

by Andres Trujillo

An Important Message from the team owner About The Coronavirus & Our Season.

Dear fan, sponsor, partner, and community member:

First off, thank you so much for supporting New Mexico's professional arena soccer team! Without you, our success wouldn't be possible. I just wanted to take the time to inform you about the growing concern surrounding the COVID-19 coronavirus. Our primary focus is to ensure the health, safety, and the well-being of our fans, players, officials, and staff.

The New Mexico Health Secretary issued a public health order temporarily prohibiting mass gatherings in New Mexico that brings together 100 or more people in a single room. The public health order defines mass gatherings where people gather in space like auditoriums, stadiums, arenas, conference centers and theaters. The order is in effect for 29 days through April 9 and could be extended based on need.

The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) has decided to end the 2019-2020 regular season effective immediately. The league’s Board of Directors voted unanimously this afternoon to act in the best interests of the players, staff and fans of the league.

The decision to end the regular season follows the direction seen in other professional sports across North America, such as the NHL, NBA, AHL, and others along with directives and restrictions from local governments in MASL communities.

The Major Arena Soccer League, the New Mexico Runners and their partners feel that it is in the best interest of the players, teams, and fans to end the remainder of the regular season. This means the Runners will not travel to Chihuahua this weekend to play the Savage and we will not play our final home game of the season on March 21st finishing our season with a record of 4-7.

The 2019-2020 season for the Major Arena Soccer League 2 will officially close with the championship game to be rescheduled for a later date.

Even though we are saddened our second season has come to an end, our priority is the safety of our fans and players. I’m incredibly proud of our boys and their hard work this season. We can’t wait for season 3 with you cheering us on!

If you have any questions regarding your season tickets, feel free to call us at 505-663-7786 and our ticketing staff will be more than happy to answer any questions as well as renew your tickets for season 3 or you may renew online by clicking HERE.

The New Mexico Runners organization would like to give a big THANK YOU to fans, sponsors, partners, staff and everyone in the community for a successful season 2. The Runners are ready for season 3 kicking off December 2020!

Sincerely,

Andres Trujillo
