Looking for Win Number 2

by Andres Trujillo

Rio Rancho, NM (January 25, 2019) - Win number two is in sights for the New Mexico Runners as they take on the Cuervos of Ciudad Juarez on Saturday January 26th, 2019.

The Runners return home to the Santa Ana Star Center after being on the road for their last two games. Kickoff is set for 5:05 PM Mountain Time.

New Mexico is coming off their first victory in franchise history where they defeated the Santa Fe Elite on the road by a score of 11-10. The score may have been close, but the Runners put on a clinic throughout that game.

Since the return of Goalkeeper Casey Gasson, there has been a change in the wind for the Runners in that the team chemistry is finally meshing. Gasson was able to toss in a goal coast to coast against the Elite last Saturday.

"The team is finally communicating as one and they are ready to come home to put on a show and work hard to get the 'W'," stated Head Coach Steve Famiglietta.

As the Runners look forward to Saturday's match up, they will have to do without Forward/Midfielder Isaiah Madrid as he sustained a foot injury in last Saturday's game.

The Runners are  1-3 on the season and are looking to make it two wins in a row. Their opponent the Cuervos, are 4-1 and hold the second spot in the Mountain Division behind the Colorado Inferno FC as they are coming off a 4 game winning streak. On Saturday night, the Runners look to break that streak and start one of their own.

Tickets are just $10 at the door and the doors open at 4 PM.

After Saturday’s match up with the Cuervos, the Runners will embark on a road trip to El Paso to face the Cuervos (February 8) before returning home to host the Colorado Rumble on Sunday, February 10 at 3:05 p.m. at the Santa Ana Star Center.

Group and single game tickets are on sale for all Runners home games. For more information on single and group tickets, call the Runners office at 505-663-7786. Keep up to date on all Runners news by following the official website, newmexicorunners.com and on Facebook and Twitter.
