Rio Rancho, N.M. (September 20, 2018) – When it comes to setting the standard for the inaugural team of the New Mexico Runners, it doesn't get any better than the signing of local high school, collegiate and PDL soccer standout Isaiah Madrid.

Madrid attended Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, NM where he helped lead Eldorado High School to two New Mexico 5A State Championships in 2010 and 2011. In 2010, he was nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year in New Mexico, as well as named to an All-State, All-District, and All-Metro 1st team Selections in the same year. His senior season, Madrid was ranked No. 88 in the IMG Top 150 by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

He attended Florida Gulf Coast University for his Freshman and Sophomore year from 2013-14 and earned a Second Team All-Conference selection as a sophomore and named Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year as a rookie in 2013.

Madrid transferred to Valparaiso University to finish out his college career from 2015-16. He competed at the top of his class earning a Second Team All-Horizon League selection, a spot on the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Third Team where he tied for seventh in the league in goals scored and ranked third in shots as a Junior.  Madrid led the Horizon League by playing a total of 1,695 minutes on the season.

It was his senior year at Valparaiso where he became Captain of the team and a first team All- Horizon League selection with a spot on the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region First Team.

Isaiah Madrid returned home to play with the Albuquerque Sol FC in the PDL from 2014 through 2018. Madrid's honors in the PDL include PDL Top 40 Watch List in 2015, PDL Top 40 Pro Prospects in 2016, and PDL Top 100 College Players to Watch in 2016.

Madrid is excited to add another platform to his resume with his signing to the New Mexico Runners in the Major Arena Soccer League.

"I'm just really excited for this opportunity and it's a dream come true to play arena soccer at this level," says Madrid.

Head Coach Steve Famiglietta is looking forward to working with Madrid once again as he has worked with him as a youth.

Famiglietta states, "With Isaiah's talent and leadership, we will have an action packed season!"
