Head Coach Steve Famiglietta Nominated to New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame

Rio Rancho, N.M. (September 20, 2018) – When it comes to making an impact in the community, the New Mexico Runners bring on the brightest spots and the organization is proud to announce that Head Coach Steve Famiglietta is nominated as a candidate to the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame.

Over the years Coach Famiglietta has made a positive and huge impact in the community from his roots back to Cibola High School and the University of New Mexico, to the professional level where he holds the title of professional soccer hall of famer.

His passion for soccer in the community has brought him as he says, “full circle” to where he started as he went from player to coach. Coach Famiglietta is currently the Technical Director for Albuquerque United Football Club where he builds and develops soccer skills in youth athletes.

“When I say ‘full circle’, I really mean it! My focus is to give back to the community what the community gave to me!” Says Famiglietta.

His dedication has been noticed and Coach Famiglietta has been nominated as a candidate to the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame.

The New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame has a mission to induct an individual who has had a significant athletic career, achieving high standards of athletic success with accomplishments on a national and worldwide basis bestowing fame and honor to the State of New Mexico.

The New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame has been around for 46 years and for the fifth time the public can take part in the nomination process. The public can vote for their favorite candidate on the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame website as well as their Facebook page by “Liking” the photo. Folks can only vote for one candidate on the website and multiple candidates on the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame Facebook page.

The candidate with the most votes isn’t guaranteed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but will automatically be added to the final pool of candidates submitted to the Board of Directors for the final voting.
