New Mexico Arena Soccer Looking to Get One Back Against Colorado on Saturday

Rio Rancho, NM (February 7, 2020) – The New Mexico Runners look to get one back at home against the Colorado Inferno FC on Saturday February 8th, 2020 at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho. New Mexico is currently 4-4 on the season and need to secure a win this Saturday to maintain a run for the post season.

This match up will be the second time the Runners will face the Inferno this season. It was a tough loss for New Mexico back on December 15th, 2019 when they played the Inferno (5-5) in a double header in Colorado.

Right now there is a 3 way race to fill the last two spots in the MASL2 post season. The Runners, Inferno, and Bombers are fighting to stay in the green. Not far behind is the Power as they are 2 games behind the other three.

On Saturday, we will see two new faces on the squad that will showcase some serious talent. Melchor Quezada and Ivan Moore have joined the squad to do some work in the Midfield position. Quezada is from Albuquerque and graduated from Rio Grande High School. He also has playing experience with the defunct Albuquerque Sol of the PDL. A younger face is that of Ivan Moore who is originally from Entebbe, Uganda and has lived most of his life in New Mexico. He currently attends Oak Grove Classical Academy and has played club with Rio Rapids as well as the Colorado Rapids Development Academy. Ivan is signed on as a developmental player maintaining his amateur status as an athlete.

Mid-Season Blues: The last few weeks have been tough since injuries have started to surface on the squad. Froilan Ramirez was injured during the road trip game against Wichita and has not been back to play since. Another injury that has hit the squad hard is Midfielder Justin White. White has to slow things down to work on getting his knee back in top shape and will sit for this game.

New Faces: Melchor Quezada plays the Midfield position and has the ability to set things up for some serious scoring action. Ivan Moore will be one to watch as his natural talent and smaller stature gives him an advantage to play between his opponents at midfield. Moore’s versatility will give him position to score some goals.

New Mexico is looking for win number 5 and they are working to position themselves for a fast-paced, exciting game.
