El Capitan & The Striker Are Back to Spearhead Season 4

The Captain Froilan Ramirez & The Striker Mehrshad Ahmadi RE-SIGNED FOR 2022-23 SEASON

El Capitan and The Striker make their return to the Major Arena Soccer League for the 2022-23 season! #11 Midfielder Froilan Ramirez as well as #49 Forward Mehrshad Ahmadi have re-signed for season 4 of New Mexico Runners arena soccer action.

Captain of the squad, Froilan Ramirez makes his return to the New Mexico Runners organization for his 3rd year in a row. Ramirez has a 3 season career in the Major Arena Soccer League with 25 goals and 10 assists in 30 games, two seasons of which were played with the Runners. Last season, he squeezed out 14 goals and 3 assists up until his ankle injury before the last game of the season. 

Ramirez is a Los Lunas High School graduate and attended Glendale Community College in Arizona. Currently Ramirez coaches youth athletes in his off time and continues to be a leader on and off the field. He has been recognized as an Outstanding Community Member by the Sandoval County Commission.

Sandia High School alum Mehrshad Ahmadi will be hitting the field in high powered fashion for his second season in the MASL2. Ahmadi made his rookie debut last season with the Runners and tallied an impressive finish to the season. With 18 goals and 3 assists in just 7 games played, Ahmadi scored 3rd Team League All-Star Forward honors in the 2022-23 season. One of the most impressive moments for Mehrshad was his dominance in the match against Colorado on March 12th, 2022 where he scored 7 goals in one game.

With the ability to be a playmaker, Ahmadi is going to be a key playmaker in the Runners' hunt for the post season.

The New Mexico Runners will kick off their fourth season on the road against the Kansas Bandits December 18th. The first home match will take place on Saturday January 7th, 2023 with a 2:05 PM kick-off at the Rio Rancho Events Center (3001 Civic Center Circle Dr. NW, Rio Rancho, NM 87144).
